Gymnasium Dolní Kounice
Julínek, Roman ; Fišer, Jiří (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor) ; Petříček, Tomáš (advisor)
The Bachelor´s work is based on the project, that was made for the subject AG035 in the sixth semester of the Bachelor´s degree. The topic of the assignment is a new building of the gymnasium in Dolní Kounice. It is a land around an elementary school in a slightly sloping terrain. The building consists of one aboveground and one underground floor. The underground floor is determined as a sports hall with facilities, dressing rooms and technical facilities for the building service. The first floor consists of a social hall for the public with a representative space including a café, a judo hall and a fitness. Sanitary facilities include both floors. The whole building is solve as a wheelchair accessible building. The design of the gymnasium responds to the place and surroundings in which the plot is located. It is a simple mass, divided in height into two parts, which extend from the sloping terrain and smoothly follow it. An interesting feature is the processing of the exposed concrete wall with wooden paneling with the Olympic theme of pictograms in the corridor on the underground floor, which connects the new building with the elementary school through an underground tunnel. This motif continues on the facade of the building through colored foils for glass. The work also deals with the design of the playground on the roof of the building together with the intensive vegetation roof. The gymnasium is a good solution for the city's background. It will find its use by nursery and elementary school pupils, young people and the general public interested in sporting and cultural events.
Pictograms of plants as support for a visual learning style in teaching botany
Drozdová, Anna ; Slovák, Marek (advisor) ; Poupová, Jana (referee)
The bachelor's thesis deals with pictograms of plants as a possible support for the visual learning style in the teaching of botany. It contains a cross-section of learning style topics and a cross-section of biology teaching topics. In the chapter on learning styles, it focuses on methods of research of visual learning and on pictures and pictograms used for learning. The work assumes that the visual style of learning is the most effective for learning, and that its better integration into biology lessons can raise interest even in less popular thematic units belonging to this subject. In the chapter focused on the teaching of biology, the thesis then focuses on popular and unpopular topics in biology classes, with a special focus on botany and the problems associated with its teaching. The thesis offers a solution to this situation by using plant pictograms in order to increase the popularity of botany, which could be through the application of plant pictograms in the teaching of botany in primary and secondary schools. The final section summarizes and discusses knowledge about the visual style of teaching, the use of pictorial materials, and most importantly, pictograms in streamlining the teaching of botany, supported by arguments from an array of scientific sources proving the usefulness of...
Evolution of visual style of the Prague Metro
Ťopková, Tereza ; Slanec, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Ježková, Tereza (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to describe the development of the Prague metro's appearance and to study the application of a uniform visual style in its current environment. The theoretical section describes the history of the Prague metro and investigates the topic of visual communication and unified visual styles with a focus on information and wayfinding systems applied in public transport environments. The key topic examined in this work is the development of the visual style in Prague's metro from its opening to the present day. Preparatory studies of the metro's information and wayfinding systems and the finally applied systems are both described. This section includes a description of individual visual elements and important information about the authors of these systems, Jiří Rathouský and Rostislav Vaňek. The current visual communication style seen in Prague's metro is also described in this section. Planned and tested variants of new systems are also examined. The empirical section of the thesis investigates the currently applied visual style in Prague's metro. Elements from the graphic manual are described and adherence to a uniform visual style is analysed, including how certain elements have been applied at selected Prague metro stations.

Use of pictograms to improve communication with tracheotomised or laryngectomised client.
ŠTANGLOVÁ, Marcela
This work is focused on communication improvement in tracheostomized and laryngektomized patients. I have chosen the topic because, according to my opinion, communication between people is very important. If there is an obstacle on communication, it brings about a lot of problems in human life which is very stressful indeed. By tracheostomy and laryngectomy performing, a barrier in spoken verbal communication arises and therefore it is important to address this issue and focus ourselves on the help to these patients. After tracheostomy the function of vocal cords is disabled and laryngectomy means a surgical removal of the larynx. In these clients, either temporarily or permanently, disruption in spoken verbal communication occurs. There are several ways how to compensate the spoken verbal communication. As a substitute, however, the most frequently used is the written verbal communication. According to my opinion it would be appropriate to include pictograms into the care of these patients. Pictograms are cards with pictures. When they are used for communication in hospital, they are supplemented with words or short phrases that clearly express the particular notion or feeling. The cards are supposed to help a client who has problems with verbal communication, but also health care workers. Therefore we set a goal to create pictograms and bring them into practice, then to determine whether the use of pictograms in practice contribute to a better communication between nurses and a tracheostomized or a laryngectomized patient and to find out whether the use of pictograms has an influence on cooperation between the family of a tracheostomized or laryngectomized patient and members of the health care team. We also wondered if patients and nurses would recommend or would not recommend the continued use of pictograms in practice.
Demands put on the nurse during the communication with the aphasic patient
VIDENSKÁ, Magdalena
Aphasia is defined as a systemic speech disorder which is caused by organic brain damage and on different levels it affects the organisation of speech. It is caused bz the damage of the dominant hemisphere associated with tumours, injuries, brain stroke, haemorrhage, meningitis and the like. Aphasia can affect people of all ages. The communication with an aphasic patient is difficult and the demands required from nurses are high. In my work I suggest alternative way of communication which would facilitate and improve the communication of an aphasic patient with other people. My work is based on the methodological handbook ``Pictograms{\crqq} written by Mgr. Kubová. This book deals with using communication picture system {--} pictograms {--} for education and developement of social communicative skills of children and adults with either mental or multiple handicaps, and it is used in many western countries. I decided to provide nurses and aphasic patients with these pictograms. The aim was to help aphasic patients to express their feelings and needs. By using the pictograms I tried to cover the basic human needs {--} the need of bowel movement, the feeling of thirst, pain, cold and so on. After about a three month use of pictograms I asked the nurses to complete a questionnaire and express their opinion on using the pictograms and on the pictograms benefit to the aphasic patients. The research was quantitative. For the data collection I chose the method of a questionnaire. The data obtained are processed in the form of tables and charts. The research group were the nurses who, when working with aphasic patients, were using the pictograms. The research was carried out in the Hospital of České Budějovice a.s., at the Nerve ward and the Follow-up care ward. The Charity Nursing Service in České Budějovice also used the pictograms in home nursing. The best of results with the pictograms were definitely reached in home nursing. 87,5 % of the nurses recommend using pictograms. When filling in the questionnaire the nurses included not only their own experience of using pictograms but also the experience of the family members taking all-day care of their aphasic relatives. The family members were able to say how well the pictograms served their purpose. The pictograms are recommended to be used by 73 % of the nurses of the Nerve ward and 62,5 % of the nurses of the Follow-up care ward. The results say that the pictograms were best used in home nursing aphasic patients. I believe that pictograms will become an important part of the communication with an aphasic patient and that they will be used effectively even though their use is time and patience demanding. The nurse{\crq}s reward is better quality nursing care and happier patients.
